FAQ’s
1.Why did we use the grape-type Pinot Noir?
Pinot Noir is a popular and widely grown grape variety used to make a variety of wines, including red and rosé wines. The resulting wine is delicate, fresh, crisp, and fruity, with aromas of cherry, raspberry, and strawberry. Pinot Noir rose is a refreshing and flavourful wine, and we believe it will complement the de-alcoholised wine option
2.How does the calorie count in de-alc wines compare with alcoholic wines?
A standard wine serving is typically 150 millilitres. When considering the calorie content of de-alcoholised wines, it’s important to note that a 150-milliliter serving of standard wine contains around 125 calories, whereas a 150-millilitre serving of de-alcoholised wine contains around 50 calories on average. Content can vary
3.Do you use additives?
We make use of additives that you would use in any normal winemaking process:
Sulfur dioxide – preservative. CMC – prevents tartrate crystals from forming, colloidal stability. Gumarabic – adds to the mouthfeel and colloidal stability. Mannoproteins –improves the mouthfeel. Glycerol – only in a small percentage (this is allowed by our wine law in the low and no category), adds sweetness, and colloidal stability. Grape-derived sugars. We do not make use of any natural or artificially derived flavours and only use what we can harness from the grape/wine that we work with.
4.How long can it last?
12 months
5.How does the de-alcoholised process work?
The alcohol is removed at low temperatures under vacuum via spinning cone technology and done in two passes. With the initial pass, 100% of the wine’s volatile flavour and aromatic essence is captured and set aside.
During the second pass, we remove the neutral alcohol from the wine. After this, we add the essence from the first pass back to the de-alcoholised wine – giving you all the flavour of a premium wine without the restriction of alcoholic content.
It’s like deconstructing the wine, removing the alcohol, and building the puzzle again. We only use additives that are allowed in traditional winemaking and strictly adhere to our wine laws. The wine is then bottled, as with any standard wine.
